It's no secret - fitness training has been proven to prevent disease, strengthen your health and improve your confidence and outlook on life. As a certified fitness trainer, I'm deeply trained in everything from muscle mechanics to flexibility and cardiovascular dynamics. So if you want to live a stronger and more confident life, I've got the training and the expertise to help you every step of the way.
I started my fitness journey about 5 years ago because I simply wanted to feel better about the way I looked. Prior to starting, I had no background in fitness but had participated in sports such as basketball, tennis, and dance. When I lived in Iran (where I'm from), I visited a doctor who told me that I was overweight for my age and height, and at the time, I couldn't care less. My nutrition was extremely unhealthy as well, I ate at least one ice cream per day, chips, sodas, and excessive amounts of sauces with every meal.
However, that all changed when I moved to Canada because everyone around me was fairly skinny and that made me feel bad about myself. Furthermore, I started training with a personal trainer and cut out most of the junk foods I ate. Since my goal was to lose weight, I did lots of cardio and started noticing my weight decreasing dramatically. My height was increasing while my weight was decreasing and I realized that I was obsessed with this decrease, causing me to lose 20 pounds and putting me at a weight of 98 pounds. It was at that point that I was starting to develop anorexia because I did lots of cardio and refused to eat much, having 1000-1500 calories a day. One day I even had to miss school because I fainted as soon as I got out of bed and forcefully ate to have enough energy to get up.
The person who helped me move past this point in my life was my mom because she made me realize that what I was doing wasn't worth it. From then on, I wanted to start lifting weights to gain some of my fat and muscle back because I was not happy with my appearance or health. Through the years, I lifted heavier and heavier, and as of now, I have gained above 26 pounds of muscle weight and am eating 2200-3200 calories a day of only healthy food.
I experienced being overweight, being underweight, and have finally found the mid-point in which I feel happiest. Although it took a long time, I no longer have an obsession or fear of the scale and know that in the world of bodybuilding, higher weight is nothing to be scared of. Due to my past experiences and educational background, I have accumulated the right resources to continue working on my goals while helping others reach theirs, as a personal trainer.
